Furai is Japanese for “sound of the wind.”
It’s tuned to run on 100% E100 ethanol produced in partnership by British Petroleum.

It’ll be a mid-engine, rotary car built on top of a Courage C65 chassis that Mazda used to run in the American Le Mans Series. The three-rotor Wankel engine tuned to run on the ethanol will pump out about 450hp.

The looks appear to be similar to the supercar Zonda made by Pagani, but also has it’s own unique characteristics that make it look very streamline.

The Mazda Furai is set to be shown in the ’08 Detroit Auto Show along side the revised 2009 Mazda RX-9.
