The new 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STi is expected to come out early next year and will be powered by a turbocharged 2.5 liter engine, expected to put out about 320 hp and a similar 320 ft-lbs of torque at a cost of approximately $35,000.

The ‘08 STi will be based off a 5-door hatchback and will have performance similar to the EVO X.

Only 6-spd manual will be offered as the gearbox, which is a relief to enthusiasts who were afraid that the EVO X and other future concept cars would only be available in a sequential manual gearbox (SMG) or Direct-Shift Gearbox (DSG).

The 2008 Subaru Impreza STi will share the same suspension as the standard WRX, with a multi link system in the rear and McPherson strut front, but with some trick lightweight components. It’s also going to be a much tighter suspension tune, in line with the cars that have more sporting intention and wheels that have grown in size from 17 inches to 18 inches.
