The new Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X is powered by a 2.0 liter turbocharged four cylinder MIVEC4 motor producing 295 horsepower and 300 ft-lbs of torque.

It also features a S-AWC (Super All Wheel Control) drive system and a Twin Clutch Sport Shift Transmission (SST).

The Twin Clutch SST is similar to the DSG (Direct Shift Gearbox) system; even and odd gears are on separate clutches for faster shifting. The system will have three modes, Normal, Sport and S-Sport, S-Sport having the fastest and most aggressive shifts.

The Evo X will be offered in two basic trim levels, the GSR which will be offered with the Twin Clutch SST, a multi-function display, S-AWC (which regulates torque and braking at each wheel), a large rear spoiler, and other high tech features.

The second trim is the RS, which is basically a stripped down version of the GSR. It deletes the Twin Clutch transmission and the S-AWC system, and also cuts the radio, power seats, and spoiler. This reduces weight for improved handling and power.

The Evolution X is on sale now in Japan with U.S. availability expected in the next few months.
